review 1: I liked the range of topic material and parts definitely had me intrigued; however, I didn't expect the tone of this book to be so conversational, almost to the extent of being patronizing. Having read a previous review, I can see now that perhaps this book was written for a very young audience, but I feel that anyone with the interest and motivation to read it through would be able to handle a more advanced voice. Some phrases or paragraphs were a little ridiculous to have included, such as "all kinds of places have names," and I found myself skimming through until I found a section I could learn from. That said, as I mentioned previously, there were some really great parts - some concepts I plan on reading about in more depth elsewhere.
review 2: I thoroughly
... more enjoyed reading this book! The chatty language the author uses is fun, often humorous, and very engaging. Crystal not only talks about verbal language, but also sign language and a bit of braille, which I find to be very fascinating. I only happened upon this book while wandering aimlessly around my library and am very happy I was able to get my hands on this book. The language used is very easy to read and is recommended for just about all ages. A great book to read! less

A very quick, enjoyable read. Simple stuff, but it really made me want to read more on the topic.

Shallow+ too many empty spaces and illustrations which make the book a waste of paper
