review 1: I liked the range of topic material and parts definitely had me intrigued; however, I didn't expect the tone of this book to be so conversational, almost to the extent of being patronizing. Having read a previous review, I can see now that perhaps this book was written for a very young audience, but I feel that anyone with the interest and motivation to read it through would be able to handle a more advanced voice. Some phrases or paragraphs were a little ridiculous to have included, such as "all kinds of places have names," and I found myself skimming through until I found a section I could learn from. That said, as I mentioned previously, there were some really great parts - some concepts I plan on reading about in more depth elsewhere.
review 2: I thoroughly... more enjoyed reading this book! The chatty language the author uses is fun, often humorous, and very engaging. Crystal not only talks about verbal language, but also sign language and a bit of braille, which I find to be very fascinating. I only happened upon this book while wandering aimlessly around my library and am very happy I was able to get my hands on this book. The language used is very easy to read and is recommended for just about all ages. A great book to read! less
