review 1: Details the events leading up to his run for Presidential office. This includes the complicated Chicago politics, his relationship with Jeremiah Wright/William Ayers, his tactical election campaigns, limited and vacillating foreign policy viewpoints, et cetera. It's a bit outdated with respect to politics and where we find ourselves now. Not a must-read, maybe not even a should-read but it's acceptable.
review 2: I've given this 3 stars. That's an average of one rating for subject matter and another rating for writing style and content. Chicago machine politics has been unpleasantly anti-American since before Tammany Hall. Maybe political corruption is a curse on all big cities, I don't know. When the parties of government do not cooperate, government seizes ... moreup. Calling competing parties "enemies" destroys cooperation. Too many people embrace an uncompromising Us-vs-Them attitude. Elitist ideologies exacerbate that. This book illustrates these inherent fallacies in the agenda of extremist obamacists, through an interesting narrative and concrete evidence. less
