review 1: While I was interested in the premise and themes, the execution left a lot to be desired. The author was clumsy in how he tried to flesh out the characters within the narrative, which was a distraction that prevented it from being as fast paced as it should have been. There were some well-written lines, but the overly dramatic and poetic tone of the characters felt unnatural. Overall, everything just seemed to lack focus.

... moreecause the action was narrated in past tense, with the characters trying to describe their frames of mind long after they'd figured out where they'd gone wrong, but I never felt like I fully understood or sympathized. For a book about the mindset of a domestic terrorist, I felt like I understood those motivations less and less as I read on. By the time the end came, I was too detached to be satisfied, even if the climax hadn't come in such a coincidence filled rush. less
