review 1: I like to think I am pretty well-versed in Disney. I am a child of the Disney generation, where 8/10 movies that I watched as a kid were Disney movies. I grew up in southern California, had many trips to Disneyland and therefore ample opportunity to explore and dig around. As I got older, I learned about hidden Mickeys and trekked around Disneyland and Downtown Disney finding those too. As I got older, I took more of an interest in the history of the place, and learned quite a bit of the tidbits in this book. I knew about the basketball court, and the feral cats. I knew which teacup is fastest to ride in, which Matterhorn line to go in for my own preference. I knew about Club 33, how fast Space Mountain went, how the ghosts are done on The Haunted Mansion. My sister worked... more there for a bit, so I knew the facts about cast members. I like to think I have an expansive knowledge of Disney. That being said, I was still impressed with how many facts in this little book were things I didn't know. I didn't know about the seventy-year-old Tinkerbell, who is a total badass. I didn't know about who voiced our tour guide on Star Tours (Pee Wee Herman, anyone?) or that before they unveiled the firework spectacular they practiced it in the Gobi Desert to ensure ultimate secrecy. I didn't know that the sold the original scene cells for classic movies like Pinocchio in the park for cheap prices, only for them to be worth millions now. I didn't know how absolutely awful opening day was, and yet the place still thrived. This is the kind of book I'll keep around for years and refer back to every once in a while. I'll impress everyone at parties (and guests waiting in line with me at Disneyland) with just how much knowledge I can spout off. Also I'm kind of jealous of the author. Can I be your assistant, tote your bags around or something while you research these books? I love to travel and love to read/learn so I'm always enthusiastic about it! Just keep it in mind, eh?
review 2: I bought this book as a Christmas gift for a niece who loves Disneyland and all things Disney. When I got it home I started to look through it to make sure it would be a good gift and before I knew it, I had read the entire book. This 200 page little gem is full of fun and interesting facts you may or may not know about Disneyland. If you are my age then you know that Tarzan's Treehouse was formerly the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, but who knew that the skeletons in the Pirates of the Caribbean when it first opened in 1967 were real specimens? Or that the first passengers to officially ride the Monorail were Vice President Richard Nixon and his family. This book covers which teacup on the Mad Tea Party ride spins the fastest, how many flowers it takes to complete the Mickey Mouse portrait at the entrance to the park, what the most unusual Disneyland souvenir ever offered by the park was, who's voice and face are used for the fallen bust in the Haunted Mansion, who's names are painted on the second-story windows along Main Street and so much more. A must read for all Disneyland fans! less

A few interesting facts, but not much more than what you can find online.
