review 1: It's my second Kushner's book, after Masters of Doom. While it also covers gaming company the pacing of this book differs a lot.It focuses more on social repercussions of Rockstars activity more than the gamedesign process itself. Most of the information is widely known to everybody interested in gaming, but still you can find a lot of interesting facts. Especially if you're not a US citizen. All in all, it's a good, easy to recommend read. Not only to gamers but everyone interested in modern popculture.
review 2: I'm currently waiting for GTA V so finding this book was a bit of a treat. This is the story of the rise of Rockstar games, there is some mention of their other games such as Manhunt and Smugglers Run but the Grand Theft Auto series is the main attracti
... moreon. I found this book a lot of fun to read, and learning of such villains as Jack Thomson and the difficulties of creating these games made me respect the company that much more. The controversy over the hot coffee mod was just ridicules though, i wanted to laugh but everyone who was acting against it was didn't seem to know what they were talking about, it was nice to read on the subject though. The only thing that seemed to put me off a little is the fact that it was written so plainly, not entirely a bad thing but after reading a couple of classics it feels as if this is some twisted way of slowing my brain function. In the end I did enjoy this quick read, and still being a few months away from riding around in Los Santos I recommend checking it out in the meantime. less

Well told but full of utter bell-ends that make it unbearable in places.
