review 1: As good as a book written about lice can be. The main character finds out that he has lice and is very self-conscious because he doesn't want his friends and classmates to find out. This book teaches children just about everything they need to know about head lice. I think this is a great book for young kids because it shows them that lice really isn't anything to be afraid of and they don't need to feel like a weirdo if they happen to get it.The illustrations in this book were nicely done but honestly kind of displeasing to look at - it is lice after all.
review 2: Bug In My Hair is a silly, yet informative book. It's a David Shannon silly book where he again ties in his text with the illustrations. The book is about how this boy get lice and hoe it turns out
... morehe got it from the kids in his class. They talks about the ways he could've gotten it and how you can't get it. His mother freaks out (and is grossed out), and they try to figure out how ti get rid of it. They find many different ways to get rid of it, but none of them sound very appealing. Finally, his mother takes a comb and says that she's going to finally get them out of his hair. But do they disappear? The illustrations are very cartoonish, but don't stray away from Shannon's style of drawing. The illustrations focus on certain parts of the story. For example when looking closely at the bugs (yuck!), it shows a magnifying glass zooming in on what they look like. He tries to make the story more fun by giving the lice faces. The illustrations are fun because they take up the whole page. The text is in a fun font and is a part of the illustration. Everything is pretty close up, making it easier to point out details in the pictures. less

Only a great like David Shannon could make a book about headlice both informative and funny.
