review 1: I'm giving this 2 stars... because the plot was decent. The beginning of the story was basically Emma's inner monologue - and I found myself getting annoyed quickly. Her abusive ex, Eric was written extremely well and he held a lot of the attention for me with this story. I was annoyed that Emma and Ryan exchange 'I love you' by the end of the book. They've barely known each other, have hung out a few times and had quick and dirty sex in the hospital (and almost a store in the mall). I also found it slightly annoying that the end was predictable and with no cliff hanger or motion to read the other books the series. I felt like the warnings should have been more for the abusive nature or the book and not the sexual nature. It could have more potential if the author elaborat... moreed on Emma's "premature mid-life crisis."
review 2: ****** 3.5 Stars ****This is one of those books that was free... but I would have bough it for the cover alone. The covers to this entire series are beautiful!! And Sexy! Although I was a bit taken back by the POV being a woman's, considering the cover is a hot man. But it didn't bother me. Overall the story was written nicely. The erotic parts were mild. I did like the 'spontaneity' of them. That was refreshing. The thing that didn't capture me in this story- was the disconnect to the story and it's characters. I enjoy stronger female characters. This female was too weak for my personal tastes. Which made her hard to emotionally connect with (She is younger so this might be attributed to her personality.) I also thought there were too many inner thoughts that were repetitive. Which does happen in real life, which I understand. But when you read the same thoughts just spelled out in a different form you want to skip ahead. I am usually down for insta-love stories. But, I need to have some sort of connection other than sexual between the characters. In this it was purely on a physical level. So I had a very hard time seeing them get to the emotional plateau that reached toward the end. On a lighter note- I thought the authors writing was smooth. The inner dialogue although it was expressed and conveyed in a immature/clingy manner. The author did a great job creating that. It was intentional and done very well. The mix up of emotions the female expressed might have been a bit repetitive like I stated. However, it was brilliantly written from a immature/youthful girls POV. So this is a mix up for me on how to feel. But I give the author her merits for her choices in this novel. I just wish I could have connected with the leads more. I rated this 3.5 - 'Hot doctor' stars! less
