review 1: Excellent story! So glad to read more of Paige's story. Love her strong character and the interesting messes she gets herself in. I enjoy how well Ms. Garner researches her areas and all aspects of her stories. Makes it more enjoyable to realize the author actually knows what she is talking about. Also enjoy that the stories are set here in a nearby area. More enjoyable to be able to identify with it.Another well done story and waiting for the next.
review 2: This book is the second in the Paige Mackenzie series, but it works perfectly as a stand-alone novel as well. Paige is a reporter from New York City who is on an assignment to research sapphire mining in the tiny isolated town of Timberton, Montana. She quickly becomes entangled in a mystery involving pain
... moretings, sapphires, an old diary hidden in a wall, blocked up and forgotten mine shafts and most of the quirky residents of the town. The story is fun and twisty, with plenty of surprising turns, and Paige’s boundless curiosity lands her in more trouble than she can handle alone. Paige also gets to reconnect with Jake, her cowboy romance from Under the Bridge for a bit of romance on top of the mystery. It’s a very enjoyable read with interesting, well-developed characters and vivid descriptions of the town and the country around it that made me feel like I was there too. The mystery kept me guessing and I didn’t foresee the ending at all. I’m already looking forward to the next Paige Adventure! DNFCouldn't get into it. Reading that old diary was boring with no other context.
