review 1: Luke Brockett is the President's son and main character in this fast-paced action novel. He and his dad are on vacation at Camp David when there is a nearby earthquake and forest fire that ignites and threatens the entire staff. Luke and his friends, Theo and Callie, find themselves on their own trying to escape the Camp. Many compounding security factors require the kids to think outside of the box in order to overcome the challenges that present themselves. The action begins quickly in this book, but the extended nature of their escape plan got a bit tiresome for me as the book developed. I enjoyed the description of the layout and security features of Camp David that the author described - kids are sure to enjoy the technology infused!

... moreer dull, but definitely bland. Not very exciting despite taking place in the middle of a forest fire at Camp David (the White House retreat). Many areas that incidents happen, and yet the writing was just blah and uneventful during each incident. Too bad, it had potential to really grab your attention and pull you in on these moments.Just blah writing as they try to get around the compound and save themselves from the forest fire. less

Hard to believe ... Unlikeable characters ...but the suspense once you get in to the story is great!

Intense mid-level book. Some parts were a little hard to believe, but the story flowed well.

Nutmeg nominee, I couldn't follow the action -- too much, too fast.
