review 1: Judging by previous reviews, I'm not the only one unhappy about the ending. It definitely was unexpected if that was what the author was going for but ...... ***SPOILER ALERT*** I never thought they would both be dead and the daughter being the only survivor!! But I guess every story doesn't always have a happy ending in real life either. I wish it had been a bit more suspenseful. I started to suspect early on that his wife was already dead so it wasn't too shocking to realize I was right at the end. All in all it was still a good read and I'd be willing to read another by this author.
review 2: This was a thought provoking book with an ending that left me reeling! Have tissues handy and don't read if your significant other is gone, you'll need and want a hug ... moreafter. I couldn't put down though! I loved the book.At first I was slightly peeved about how all this man coud think of was his wife when he had his little girl to think of, but as the story unfolds, i cried. I bawled.At times I was baffled with how he was able to what he did, but I figure any parent would everything they could just like he did, it's amazing what adrenaline can do.I do fing his darling little girls reaction a bit un-realistic, thinking of how my own kids would react in a similar situation, but I will just call it intense shock.....Needless to say, I loved this book and I love this book. Read it, and cry, and then the appreciation will set in.I look forward to more of his work! less
