review 1: 4 solid stars.Such a sweet little story.Cory has a dysfunctional family to look after and does not have time or space in his life for more than a fuck buddy. He keeps said family and fuck buddy well away from each other and never the twain shall meet... until his niece suddenly gets sick in the middle of the night - where fuck buddy Ken is in his bed - and Beckys mother is awol...Ken is a sweetheart - I fell in love with him immediately. Cory on the other hand, is a bit of an ass. But he has his reasons I guess, and redeems himself in the end. The kid - Bailey - is sweet and lovable and all in all the story is just cute and bubbly, with only a smidgen of angst and drama.A perfectly sweet little holiday read.
review 2: I really loved this little story, even... more if you take out the Christmas theme it would work. It was sweet and heartbreaking but had a wonderful HEA.I fell in love with Ken, what a sweetheart, and his interaction with Bailey was precious. I’m not really sure why or how he fell in love with Cory and I’m kind of confused why he stayed after Cory treated him so harshly but I guess the heart gets what the heart wants. They did work well together when the chips were down. There were a couple of niggles, one was it ended way too soon so now I’m ready for a sequel. I want to know what happens to Cory, Ken and Baily. The other one was a few times in the story names got confused, it’s not a big issue with me but it does make me pause when it happens. If you’re looking for a short, fast, sweet read then I highly recommend this novella. less
