review 1: I thought this was an excellent book! I love how Diane completely changed the traditional version of this classic fairy tale. It's just really cool because you're just not expecting it to be that unique! It's not at all like the original so you don't feel like you're just reading a slightly different version of a story you already know. Yes it kept the very basic parts of the original but this is just so amazing! Love it! :)
review 2: The cover is pretty. Many of the characters are flat. Part of the way through I thought it was going to be the thirteenth princess who saved the other 12---an interesting twist which struck me as unnecessarily feminist (who needs a prince when they have princess power?)---but then when she pulled in a boy to do the actual rescuing
... more, I ended up annoyed that she couldn't pull it off on her own after all. less
