review 1: London barrister Geoffrey Mason, full-time lawyer and part-time amateur steeplechase jockey, becomes involved in the murder of a professional jockey by a fellow jockey. Geoffrey receives many anonymous letters encouraging him to represent the jockey but to make sure he loses the case. If he doesn't lose, he is threatened with harm to someone he loves. His only choice is to find the person behind the threats before this person carries out the threat.
review 2: Putnam is using a horrible photo for the authors, where Dick looks to be a frail 150, and Felix looks jovial and dim. This is bad, because it suggests that Dick isn't doing much of the work, even though his name is so prominent on the cover. No matter. It starts out well.Meh. One of the best things about F
... morerancis' books is that they start in the midst of action. This one is a bit slow at the onset. Before casting it aside, I read the end, to see if there was something I needed to know. There wasn't. less

A pretty standard Francis book, although Felix's touches seemed to have slowed the pace of the book.
