review 1: I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I wasn't sure what I was getting into. This book is about being in the foster care system. We meet Maxx short for Maxine. She is on the run. She runs into another homeless kid. The kid tells her about the chapel on 99th street. The chapel is where she meets Rio. He is funny and has a plan even though he is homeless. He pushes Maxx to have a plan too. They start talking about plans when Maxx gets caught by the cops and is placed back with her foster family. The one she ran from because of the father attacking her. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. Reading 99 to Nowhere just made me think about all the children that are in the system and could possibly be going through similar situations. It was a nice change of ... morepace.
review 2: First response : Damn, I want to become a foster parent and make a difference. That's how much this story spoke to me. I do have to comment that there were grammatical and spelling errors that were highly annoying. I was also a little upset at how towards the end we were rushed through 10 years of Maxx's life. I honestly would of liked to have read more about her struggles along with Rio's in another book. I was also shocked at how Maxx went from not trusting Rio one chapter to professing her love...I personally would have liked to read about how the emotion and trust was gained. This story is heart felt, and if you have ever known anyone or known of anyone who has been in the system, this isn't a far fetched tale. Obviously not everyone gets their happily ever after like Maxx and Rio do but what leads up to it is honest and should pull at your heart. The blended family was a nice change from other reads and I throughly enjoyed Jo's small part. All in all, a great read. I laughed at loud in some parts and cried in others. I will definitely keep an eye out for other titles by this author. less

This book needs a good editor. It definitely has good potential but parts felt rushed.

Good book. The ending was a bit predictable and kind of rushed.
