review 1: The graphic novel format works so well in this fascinating look at the " dirty thirties". Don Brown includes all the important back matter, history of the area and geography, economic concerns and health problems, brought about by all that dust. Interesting and engaging for an upper elementary - middle school reader. I'd pair it with one of my favorites, Karen Hesse's Out of the Dust, for a quick, but potent look at this period of history.
review 2: Wow! I've never read a nonfiction graphic novel before. I loved the pictures. ... morelooking at pics might think the storm picked up ships. But fascinating presentation. less

Solid children's graphic novel on the Great American Dust Bowl. Well illustrated, fairly short.
Well-told and well-illustrated. Conveys the bleakness well.
Great introduction to this topic.
