The Return to Camelot
review 1: Yet again Donna Hosie has out done herself. The Fire of Merlin was a fine addition to the series. The second book was very fast paced for me, everything was just happening too fast to keep up with at times. Once again, Camelot was portrayed amazingly and along with the world's characters that come with it all. We got to meet Guinevere in this book and she was just portrayed beautifully, I really do love her already and she has so much potential...I'm excited for more of her. Well back to the plot...although it was super faced paced it was still enjoyable. Merlin got a lot of air time along with Nimue, which was really good to see. Although the series has a strong romantic side to it, the romance never gets too overwhelming and doesn't interfere with the story line too much... more, which is always a good thing. Now characters. Since it is the second book of the series we got to see a bit more character development with certain characters. Like of course, Arthur and with his stepping up to be the king and all. Also with the knights, you got to see their true wonderful colors. But sadly, with Natasha and Sammy, nothing really happened for me with their development. Sure, Natasha was becoming the heroine we all know she's going to be but at the very end she fell back into her old habit, of running away and I personally hated that. Also with Sammy, sure she wasn't it in a lot but when she was she was still as catty and annoying as ever. But anyway, The Fire of Merlin was a great story and I'm looking forward to the last book of the series.
review 2: A worthy followup to Searching for Arthur - my review of this could in many ways just be a repeat of what I wrote for that one, so I won't rehash it all here, but go check it out. This book got better as it went along, and once I passed about the halfway point it really was a matter of, well, I'm not going to sleep tonight until I finish this thing and see how it turns out! I'm really pleased to see more of the mystery of what's happening to Natasha, Arthur, the knights, etc. begin to be fleshed out, and the introduction of some great new characters (Guinevere is great, and this version of Merlin is intriguing). Can't wait to read book three! less
