review 2: Fairly light but historically engaging tale about America at the dawn of the Revolution. I think it's sometimes classified as historical fiction but maybe has been sold as a r... moreomance. However, since the lovebirds in question discuss contraception rather nicely, I'd move it in to the 'ladytastic' subgenre of romance, if that. Also, if the exact same book had been written by a man, it would not have featured a bodice on the cover nor sold as a romance, because it could totally have stood its own ground in the historical fiction category.
