review 1: I picked this up as a possible read aloud book to an 8 year old I was tutoring. I never got a chance to read this to her but I loved this book. Then I found out it's a series. So now I'm on book 3. They are really cute, and even though I'm not a big dog person, I loved the dog-turned-detective. King, or Buddy as his new name becomes, is trying to solve the mystery of his disappearing family. He ends up at the pound and luckily gets adopted by nice new people but he can't help wondering what happened to his old family. His best friend Mouse who is the loudest and biggest dog in the neighborhood helps Buddy solve the mysteries. I'll admit part of why I kept going after this first book is because I too want to know what happened to Buddy's old family.

... moren't keep the books in this series on the shelves. Buddy, previously known as King, is a dog with a mystery to solve. His family is missing, and he's been put in the P-O-U-N-D. Why doesn't his beloved human, Kayla, come to rescue him? When Buddy/King is adopted by Connor and his mom, things get more confusing, because his new BFF Connor suddenly disappears. Can Buddy solve the mystery? Maybe he can, with a little help from new pals, Mouse (a very large dog) and the nameless cat who hangs around. Fun for mystery and dog lovers! less
