review 1: Why was this not required reading when I was in graduate school for teaching? This book should be in every teaching 101 curriculum because it gives practical and researched techniques for teachers to use in the classroom. Some of them are familiar, but there are a number I am looking forward to implementing. Easy to follow, easy to read, and really great for anyone who is a teacher or thinking about becoming one.
review 2: This book offers a lot of helpful, basic techniques for teaching, from behavior management to asking rigorous questions. It made me rethink my approach to teaching and I've come away with many ideas for how to improve my classroom for the upcoming year.My main complaint about this book is that it's intended for K-12 teachers, and as a 10th gr... moreade teacher myself, some of the strategies seemed geared specifically towards elementary teachers (for example, Call and Response) that are not useful to me. I wish that there were two books, one for K-6 and another for 7-12, so that Lemov could emphasize techniques that are more useful in high school classrooms. less
