review 1: Delightful is what I'd say this was. The characters are charming and the dialogue witty. I loved the little twist in the middle, too, though the second half seemed to drag a bit. What I really really liked was how vivid the old Scotland was, in the descriptions and characters. It made me wish I could hear the music and taste the food. The cautious cheer in the people was hard not to root for and I did like how the past and present were tied together with the snapshots of other times. So very interesting!..
review 2: As others have said, this is a book with two distinct time periods. The first part is a historical romance set in the Scottish Highlands. It was wonderful and I loved every minute of that part. Once it moved into present time, I wasn't very into
... moreit. I found that part rather dull. The meshing of dreams, reality, and constantly changing locations left me confused at times. My rating should probably be closer to a 3, but I had to go higher based on how much I loved the historical part of the book. less
