review 1: Kirsty is a girl who loves spending time with her grandad on his allotment, but isn't too keen on spending weekends with her older half brother and sister, Ben and Dawn. She gets on alright with Ben, but has to share a room with Dawn every weekend - something they both hate. But everything changes after Kirsty's grandad dies and the council says his allotment must go to a stranger.Kirsty has to get Ben and Dawn to help her change the council's mind and help their dad get over the loss of his dad. Meanwhile, Kirsty's dad isn't dealing well his dad's death at all and acts as if his kids don't exist. But can their cunning plan, with elephants, skateboard rollerskates and late night stakeouts really put everything right?

However, the actual story at times seems a little crazy.Reading the acknowledgements, I read that Caldecott based this story on an article she read in the paper. I found that quite far fetched... less
