review 1: I wanted so much to like this book. I love romantic comedies and having vacationed in Canada often as a teenager, I have a fondness for the setting. However, I could not give this book more than 2 stars. I could buy the part with the orcas, and surviving the storm and being adrift with no oars, but when the cougar attack happened, I was out. It was just one bridge too far for me and I almost stopped reading. I did finish the book and appreciated the inevitable happy ending, but a book that started with so much potential disappointed me in the end.
review 2: I thought that this book would be another predictably shitty book about a young woman desperate for a change in her mundane life. Hollie's job sucks , her boyfriend is a bit of a sleaze - he drives an a... morembulance but walks around with a stethoscope and talks as if he is a doctor - and her hippy mother disappeared when she was little.Surprisingly,I found myself enjoying Eliza Gordon's style of writing and wanting to know how it all works out for the hapless Hollie. less
