review 1: I love art... I enjoy great mystery... I adore romance... and I always seek out historical fiction. Thank you to Ella Carey for so nicely packaging all of that into one adorable novel. Life does throw us curve balls (albeit, generally not so gracious as the one that this character received)and often they shape us into the people that we are meant to be. I think this author did a tremendous job of putting that phenomenon on paper. I look forward to reading more of her work.
review 2: This was a great book, a real page turner! I bought it, read late into the night & just finished it this morning. I am still caught up in the magic and romanticism. I remember seeing the photos in the news when the apartment was discovered. I was awed by the beauty, the mystery... more, the intrigue of the photos and wondered what the back story might be. Author Ella Carey took that news item and has written a delightful novel; one that carries you away...all the way to Paris!Like "Cat", the main character, I too, love vintage items including clothing, jewelry, furnishings, paintings, and architecture. The author's words are vivid and realistic; so much so that even if I had not seen the photos, I could picture them anyway.This story is not at all dull and boring, not just a documentary on "real life" happenings, but a story full of passion, self-discovery, love, family, mystery, and of doing the right thing. The main character is such a selfless person, even when others want to give up, she is persistent to the end.This is definitely one of the best books I've read in a while and my review isn't even good enough to express my pleasure and delight in it.
