review 1: Ok here I go, Ella is not a bad writer, infact sometimes, she seems to be a brilliant writer. I say this because the story became so boring in some places but I continued reading because the writing flowed and it seemed a shame to give up. The story has a very plain and, quite frankly dull ending, I won't spoil it for anyone but I've had quite liked to read what actually happened, not just read a 20 line letter that just sums up the entire book. I also didn't like all the Komodo side. I don't want to know all the thought process and hard work that goes into advertising, quite frankly it was boring and I had to force myself to carry on reading. I loved the Australian guy and wondered why he just kind of disappeared after she spent a day with him (until near the end) it was ... morelike the author needed an extra character but then didn't want to carry on with him throughout the book. I apologise for the long, rambling review (it's 6am and I'm tired lol) I liked this book enough to review it, but I won't have Ella on my list of authors I religiously look out for...sorry
review 2: Postcards from the Heart follows the lives of a number of people. In particular, two couples, Saffy and Greg and Connor and Jess. Both couples of a number of things going on in their lives. Saffy is quite successful in her advertising job, however, still has to prove her competence to her boss. She is looking forward to getting proposed to by her boyfriend Greg on Valentine's Day. Greg is a TV show star, who is hoping to hit the big time in Hollywood. And although he loves Saffy he is not sure that marriage is the right approach right now. This leads to an argument and they separate for a bit while both sort out what to do. Saffy meets Joe a single-dad looking after his young son, they both become involved, however, Saffy is keeping something secret from him, which eventually leads to issues. On the other hand, Connor and Jess have been together for quite some time now, and have 7 year old twins, Luke and Lizzie. After all this time together, Connor hopes to convince Jess to marry him; however, Jess doesn't feel that in order to confirm you love one needs to be married. Connor currently teaches, but is an aspiring writer, whereas, Jess does freelance journalism. They also both have issues to resolve and find themselves in quite a predicament when Connor is offered a book contract. In this mix are other characters, like Saffy's single mother Jill, Vicky, Ant and Marsh from Saffy's company, a young teenager that Greg's get involved with, Doug from the restaurant and not to forget the trouble-making hamster, Brendan. While I found the beginning of the book a bit slow, the story picks after that. They are so many choices that each character is faced with; however, I think the biggest moral of the story is that you can't hide things from others and expect life to go on as normal. Secrets lead to issues and heartbreak, and it is often best when you come clear with the truth. less
