review 1: I can seriously say that I am in love with Mycroft, Holy sweet jesus is he amazing.Im so happy that I found out that Ellie Marney lives locally near me which honestly made me want to read these books even more. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. But come on I mean Rachel and Mycroft arrrrgrh soooo damn cute! Literally want these to be a set of movies or something there so good :)!!! I was hooked on the first few pages and refused to put the book down. SO ADDICTIVE.
review 2: The second book in the Every series is an exciting read. I loved the Australian sensibility, wit, colloquialisms and the sense of place, even though most of this story takes place in England. (It will be interesting to see how this translates overseas....a lot of looking up the MacQuarie dictionary I ho... morepe) I loved the suspense, the mystery and the danger that Watts and Mycroft find themselves in, and their ability to think through the alternatives and come up with solutions (a bit of McGyver thrown in the mix!). I must admit I found some of the writing overwrought and a little fruity, and I was surprised it took them so long to figure out the denouement, but in the whole scheme of things that hardly mattered. A great roller coaster of a read, with Mycroft's despair and self-destructiveness at tragic past events, tempered with Rachel's ability to break through his misery and be the voice of reason make them a great complement to each other. Not to mention their incredible resourcefulness and brain power - interspersed with moments of teen lust! I am very much looking forward to discovering what this intrepid duo get up to next. less
