review 1: Compelling and breathtaking. Gut-wrenching and heart warming. A story about how stories are linked, about how histories conspire to bring us together even though we seem so far apart. A favourite paragraph: p.177 Adam thought he might he hungry. He was having trouble opening his peanuts. In disgust with himself he ended up tearing violently at the pack and some of the peanuts flew towards the front of the plane as though more serious than Adam about getting to Chicago.

Dealing with memory, love, guilt, heroism and racism there is also human kindness. The world is indeed small. I highly recommend this book. less
