review 1: This was a fun book to read. I really liked Marcus' character and Asia's family. The surfer/skater lifestyle with the casual, recreational pot smoking without it getting into 'addiction, drug abuse, etc' drama was refreshing and hilarious to read about as well. Asia, the heroine of the book, was all over the place for me as a character. The author sets Asia up as this no-nonsense, tomboy who is just one of the guys but I never really feel that from her. I think it was the scene in the sushi restaurant that really threw me. She comes across as this shy wallflower when she has been set up as this girl who is comfortable hanging out with the guys even ones she is attracted to (i.e. Marcus). And THEN she gets a makeover in the first few chapters of the book and BAM she ... moreis this sexy woman that everyone wants. The whole book is about Asia's journey to find herself and I get that. Maybe I just needed more set up for her personality and back story before it got all jumbled up. Another thing that bothered me was the token gay friend (Nick) who is used as the makeover expert/comic relief. I don't know...I feel like I have read too many books lately where the main character has one gay friend and they always seem to be placed in the same role or box. It feels like stereotyping and irks me a bit. Anyway, despite all that, I love books about artists and I would have loved to read more about Asia's art.
review 2: I really liked this book. It was kind of a love triangle, but not overly done.I liked Jay, but I found him to be suspicious sometimes based on where he would be at times...but as usual, I was way off track. LOLSince I was suspicious of Jay, I was on board the Marcus train! I loved him!! I loved the he liked Asia just the way she was. And I loved that she FELT like she could be herself around him.Asia always felt like she had to be someone else with Jay.I loved Asia's brother Shaun, so I can't wait to read his story next! less

Main character is a little bit too wishy washy for me. But still a fun read.

Writing style just did not work for me. I find this too dragging.
