review 1: I always loved Emily Giffin and her writing, maybe it was the high expectations with this book what brought me down in the middle of it. It brought no surprise, nor emotion as I read it. It started out great, the depictions of the Texas way of living were great, but there was something about the main character that I could not connect with. Needless to say the whole idea of the perfect Coach Carr was kind of annoying and even by the end of the book where everything finds some sort of resolution I still feel it wasn't a good ending.
review 2: What did I just read?... I am a big football fan and love Emily Giffin, but this was not at all what I was expecting. The somewhat incestuous relationship with Coach Carr was way too much for me to handle, and I could not r... moreelate to the situation at all. I found myself angrily yelling at the book anytime their relationship was hinted at. Who in the heck wants to sleep with their best friend's dad who was a father figure to you throughout your childhood?!!!!!?! This was too weird to handle, hoping her next book will be better. less
