review 1: I think Emily Miles has created something good here. She gives us a character, Allie, who is tough, aggressive, and, in her own way, smart (I would say "street smart" as opposed to "book smart"), doing the things she needs to do to keep her and her friends alive in the Demon infested city of Las Vegas. She is by no means the "perfect heroine," though, and I think that makes her a better character. The one main problem I had with the book is that it felt like there was a lot of repetition, especially of the world "Demon." With the group being together for as long as they had, you'd think they'd have come up with a nickname for them or something, but every time it's "Demon." And Allie is ALWAYS grabbed by the wrists, except for once. Given the number of times Allie is grabbed... more by someone (probably close to a dozen times), someone should really have grabbed her arm or her shoulder at least once. Also, there are times when Allie's abilities are kind of ill-defined. For example, she gets hurt pretty badly toward the end of the book and it seems like she's up and walking around a day later. I mean, she mentions early in the book that she heals quickly (one of her perks) but that seemed a bit much. There were a few places where some editing could have been done, such as errant apostrophes and the aforementioned repetition, but I think the world that Mrs. Miles has created is a fun one. It feels like there's going to be a sequel (or possibly a series) and I hope that it (they) are as good as or better than this one.
review 2: AHHHHH! W.....T....F! well, the lack of major kick-ass action near the beginning/middle.... they made up for at the end! the ending though... whoa... i just can't think...there better be a sequel soon or i might drive myself insane with the need to figure out what the hell is going on! have to say though, that this book is different, it had a good strong theme going, i'm thinking it needed a tad more depth, more twists and turns maybe, underlying currents of history and relationships between the secondary characters. twas good and i'm glad i finally got round to reading it, hopefully in the next book we will get the same quality and maybe a tad more excitement steadily through the book, and a suggestion for the author... some more puzzle pieces please? things that through the story you would maybe think nothing of until right at the end when it all CLICKS, ya know? less

I really liked it but the ending left me a bit confused. Is there supposed to be a sequel?
