review 1: 3.5 StarsI liked solving the puzzles in this book.I don't really like that Eric Berlin tried to lace a little bit of romance into a mystery-centered book, but I guess the author gets to decide.I really expected this to be a happy ending book. When Mr. Garvey (and I guess Jake too...) threw the computer and it broke, I half thought that they were screwed, but I kind of anticipated that Winston and his team would find a way out of this problem. One thing I liked about this book was the story wasn't about the team going on a direct path to victory. They had to go through obstacles (I'm not talking about the six puzzles). They had to work around getting slowed down by the cheater and breaking the computer.I think reading books meant for a slightly younger audience is my guilty ... morepleasure...
review 2: Even though I haven't read the first book, I immediately understood what it was about, who the main character was, and what the story was going to be about. Puzzles, obviously. =)So anyways, this book is about a boy named Winston Breen, and he's this puzzle prodigy. In the first book, he (SPOILER!) solved some mystery. (Which I found out in the book the puzzling world of Winston Breen in the dialogue.) I don't want to ruin this book for you if you're interested, so I'm not going to say anything else! Recommended to: Puzzle book lovers, mystery, a tiny hair of romance, (But it's such a small amount of romance, you'd need a strong microscope to see it.) and a fun, interesting book! less
