review 1: I was given a pile of books to borrow by my boss and only started reading this when the pressure was on to give her it back. They say don't judge a book by its cover but it looks so girly and harmless. Wrong. The first couple of pages seemed pretentious and sponsored by the Italian tourist board and if I'd had my nook with me I'd have probably stopped there and then. Really pleased I didn't, just when you think you have it sussed something worse happens!
review 2: There was something lacking in this Erica James novel. The story begins in the 'Now' and quite quickly goes back to the 'Then', which is the majority of the book and not for the better. Lydia is the main character and the 'Then' is when she was a young teenager and the sad and unpleasant life she and
... more her younger sister had after their mother died and they were sent to live with their grandparents. The story drags and then when you eventually return to present day, a gap of 28 years and the resulting questions, are resolved in a matter of days - and rather predictably. A very disappointing Erica James, who is usually a much better story teller. less
