review 1: I love this story! It is a story of leaving the past behind and trying to move on. It's easier to do when you have someone to lean on. This story isn't a sweet girl meets bad boy and they live happily ever after. Their story has bumps a long the way. The love that Dani and Holden have is AMAZING. It's real love love. Although, sometimes people don't know what is best from themselves and listen to everyone but their heart...5 stars for amazing chemistry and a well written story!
review 2: i adored this book. The characters in it didn’t have any tragic flaws except hearts of gold. It was such a change for me to read this. I am not saying that it needed more, my emotions sprang from me more and more with each page I turned. It was heartwarming and beautiful. To
... moresee the characters take their hearts and always try to do what is right, despite how it would change thier lives.Dani had big dreams to escape the small town she lived in. She wanted nothing mroe than to get out of the town she grew up in, but 10 years later, she finds herself back in that small town wanting to take care of those around her, especially her mother. Her mother wasn’t dealt a fair hand when it came to kids. Two of her kids use her and Dani just wants to fix it. But battling with siblings may not be the way to do it. So one night after a particulary rediculous fight with her sister she finds herself running to her 4th sibling to keep her calm. What she doesn’t expect that night she meets her brother at the bar is what she sees outisde the bar… Holden. The big problem there is the girl attached to him… Dani hates her.Holden is in a job he doesn’t like and doesn’t want to be doing but, it is a family business that he is to enherit. Does he want it? No, but it is the right thing to do. Holden has spent so much of his time being numb to his surroundings. The one girl who had his heart ended up with someone else. He was just trying to live his life without her in it.When their eyes connected there was something there. But Dani knew there was no way anything would ever happen between the two of them. Holden just couldn’t keep his eyes off of her. But what was the chance that he would ever see her again? His job kept him on the move. Constantly going to where the business needed him.Holden ends up on a temporary position on Dani’s town and the two of them become fast friends. Her quick wit plays well off of his and the two of them are so much alike though through completely different circumstances. But what happens when Holden and Dani start to see each other in a different light? She’s not looking for anything long term and he knows he won’t be around long enough to make anything last longer…This book just sucked me in. I loved Dani and Holden’s story. Though it wasn’t easy and yes, I found myself crying a time or two, I just couldn’t get over how powerful love could really be for these two. It made my heart smile when they were together and my heart broke right along with theirs when they were apart.Erika Ashby made these characters real and relatible. I just adored the heck out of them. I loved reading their story. It was a great eye opener for those with the biggest hearts… a picture of what life should be and other’s issues are not your burden to bear unless you choose to. Life is about the choices we make and these two made several of the wrong ones in order to help others out, but when they started making decisions for themselves, it was quite moving and touching.I just adored this book so much!*I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review* less
