review 1: False accusations! lives ruined abound in this novel by Erin Healy. Healy's prose kept me on the edge of my seat and the many twists and turns kept me turning pages long past bedtime. Audrey's husband Geoff is the pastor of their local church until a self-important elder has him fired with false accusations. Because they always used bread baking to relax them, the couple opens a bakery in a building that formerly housed a drug store, home to Diane, a recently released ex-con. When Diane returns home to find an heirloom necklace, she meets Audrey, Geoff! and their son Ed. The elder is also a police detective who's wife is missing and presumed dead, a deed he suspects Audrey of. This is a great mystery and done I highly recommend.
review 2: It was refreshing to r... moreead a book about good, decent people for a change. People who used their faith to keep them strong during extremely stressful times. This is the story of a man who lost his job as a church pastor, after being unjustly accused of a wrongdoing. He and his wife and son pick up the pieces of their lives without complaint and start again running a bakery. Their new lives are threatened by their old nemesis--a religious fanatic who thinks they've destroyed his family. Their story becomes intertwined with the past of their new assistant at the bakery. It all makes for just a really good read. It has a little bit of everything--a little mystery, a hostage situation and redemption for a lost soul. less
