review 1: I have to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I made the mistake of scanning the first few pages at the beginning of the semester, intending to put it down and get back to it at semester end, but the author clearly had other plans for me and my busy schedule. I found myself continually stealing away in the middle of my work day, just before bedtime, and any other block of time I could swipe because when I wasn't reading I was seriously pressed to get back to the book to find out what happens next. I even went to a bar one night and, while waiting for a friend to arrive, found my eyes glued to the pages of this book on my smartphone's Nook app, totally oblivious to the scene around me. I say all that to say LAWS OF DEPRAVITY is an immensely captivating, well-paced ... morenovel with interesting, multidimensional characters, intricate plotting and sub-plotting, surprising twists, and even the perfect dash of romance. Loved it and am eagerly looking forward to the next installment in the series.
review 2: Eriq La Salle's first novel is a thriller that reads like it could be a TV detective story. With complex characters and many twists and turns, it's easy to get past the occasional grammatical errors involving misplaced punctuation."Laws of Depravity" is gripping, starting right with the prologue. The short chapters, interesting character relationships, and the reader's awareness that another big development is always around the corner all combine to make it easy to keep reading more.I found this novel to be fast-pased and truly thrilling. I highly recommend it. less
