review 1: This picture wordbook has three different stories in one. The first is about two birds fighting for whom is taller, and then a short peacock proves that he may not be tall, but he is not small either. The second is about two birds saying they can go high, until a penguin appears and say he has no wings so they help him fly with some balloons. And the last is about two birds that want to live in the same tree, but they fall because what goes up must come down. This book is funny because I never imagined what was going to happen next, so it get me attracted to continue reading it. It has different themes such as birds, compare and contrast, sizes. I believe that this book is great for vocabulary and when talking about sizes or measurements, it illustrates the concept of up,... more tall and high. I would use it in a classroom and made my students compare and contrast the different heights of their classmates, and I would make them organize by themselves in order of height.
review 2: In his astonishing book, "Up, Tall and High," Ethan Long has established himself creating a wonderful book in which sight words and pictures create a wonderful way for the reader to learn and explore new words. Long makes reading a real delight for younger readers, especially in "Up, Tall and High." Long takes the reader through three extremely funny stories that are combined into one excellent picture book where colorful birds are characterized to show the concepts of "up," "tall" and "high." less
