review 1: For the most part I enjoyed Pleasure Rush. I liked that Theo and Dierdre were an older, more mature couple. And I also liked being privy to some of what happens behind the scenes of the NFL media. However, there were things that kept me from loving Pleasure Rush. The constant repeating of information was definitely one of them. I felt like I was always being re-introduced to the characters rather than getting to know them more deeply. Over two hundred pages and all I really learned about Theo is that he was a very attractive, well built womanizer who played in the NFL for twelve years. Aside from that and the fact that he took her little brother under his wing, I never fully grasped what Dierdre loved so much about Theo. Why he loved her was a bit more evident but it didn'... moret seem to go much deeper than her being a hard worker with a big heart who'd spent most of her life tending to her brother and son. Since this was Theo's and Dierdre's story I wanted to really get to know them and I didn't feel like I did. Another thing that kept me from absolutely loving Pleasure Rush was the absence of any real drama. Just like other books in this series, the climax came very near the end and was an overreaction to a misunderstanding or something that could have easily been resolved. For a few pages the couple broke up and then just like that everything was fixed and they were engaged . . . Theo's and Dierdre's engagement being the most dissatisfying. Even though they'd known each other for seven years, the two of them had only been in a romantic relationship for a few days. I don't know, it just seemed rushed and unrealistic for their lives at that point. However, as always, these are just my opinions. I received a gift bag filled with Ms. Rochon's books but I don't necessarily have the desire to read any more of them. Perhaps I'll pick up another one this summer for a quick, beach read.
review 2: A fun weekend read. I have enjoyed Rochon's New York Sabers series from the first installment, and I'm pleased that the writing has gotten better with each subsequent book. No wonder Rochon is now a RITA finalist. This story about Theo Stokes and Deirdre Smallwood has been long awaited. Given the level of animosity between these two, I knew Rochon would have her hands full getting them together in a believable manner. But get them together she did, and in fine fashion. All I can say is I now want to visit to Hawaii more than ever, and although I'm not crazy about heights, perhaps a zipline is in my future.Theo and Dee smoulder on the pages, and even when things look bleakest, they found a way. Another smart, sexy romance. less

I liked the previous book in the series, too. Rochon writes great football heroes.
