review 1: The plot in this book was very different from any I had ever read. usually I can guess the ending before but was totally shocked by the ending of this one. The characters were well developed and two of the characters always had mystery surrounding them throughout the entire story, making me want to keep reading trying to figure out their role and why they so important that they kept popping up at unexpected times. Great story line ! You have to read it to figure out the significance of the Black and White families. This answer comes toward the end of the story and the answer will blow you away! Great storyline!
review 2: My dear husband officially graduated and received his PhD today! But me, however, aside from the actual hooding and receiving of the diplo
... morema excitement, I needed a book to get me through the ceremony. The Mystery of the Big Ben was another free Kindle book option. The novel revolves around the mysterious murders being committed by genetically identical people with the surnames Black and White. Spoiler Alert: turns out, the whole novel has been a real life chess game with people as the pieces. After an accident that should have killed the main character, his wife (whom he thought was dead) has made a deal with the devil to save his life in return for her soul if she loses the game. In typical deal-with-the-devil style, there are loopholes and catches behind every rule. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend this, but it was an interesting mystery to pass the time as degrees were distributed. less

Odd story. Hard work to get through it. I think it may have lost something in the translation.
