review 1: A really enjoyable book on many levels. It reminded me a little of my experience reading Cloud Atlas in terms of well developed characters, the narrative structure that enigmatically unfolds revealing the larger thematic connectedness of all the characters. In this case the various parts of the book are told from different first person points of view, rather than using genre and historical shifts. Very moving, elegiac.
review 2: I bought this book on impulse, not even bothering to read the blurb and after finishing it I am thrilled! This book is amazing. ... morer kind of plot, for there to be a goal, a point, a solid obstacle blocking the path for the hero to vanquish, but this book is not that. It is intangible; more like joining stars and trying to find constellations or putting your hand through mist. There is something there. You know it, but when you reach out and try to grasp it, it slips through your fingers. When I finished this book it left me with a marvelous feeling of contentment, the kind you feel after a harrowing journey has ended, except when I looked back I could not for the life of me remember where I'd been. less

A lot of characters and jumping around, back and forth. Was hard to keep up with.

This book was both confusing and disturbing. But I still enjoyed the read.
