review 1: This was fun! Not the best in the series by any means but still the same humor and battle intrigue that you can always be sure to find in Aiken's novels. Got to admit, Addolgar sometimes struck me as kind of stupid himself, but I guess it might he's just more adorably oblivious in that way only males can be (if we're buying into stereotypes and all). Plus he's just so much more cheerful and happy (hence his name) than the rest of the kin, that might be just me being in slight shock he is not an absolute arrogant asshat that we usually fall in love with in this series. I still had fun reading anything of this world and really REALLY want Aiken to write Ailean and Shalin's story. Just a short story... please?!?
review 2: One of my favorite Dragon Kin books. The
... moremisfit Braith and the cheerful Addolgar work together to fight back after an ambush, track down her traitorous father and reunite with her mother's kin. She appears to be a large but somewhat timid royal, but she takes out even the Cadwalder Clan when they're fighting as a family - nonlethally, of course. It's a novella, but it shows that the dragons in this story have strong family ties and a sense of heritage that shines through the love story that's low key but heartfelt. less
