review 1: Yai dragons! Finally a book about dragons that I truly enjoyed reading. There was (finally if I may say)no kinkiness or awkwardness about the story. Annwyl the Bloody and Fearghus the Destroyer - very well written characters. The whole action was well built and brought to the end in a steady pace. There was no rush to finish the story.Very well portrayed dragon and such a strong female character. I am so relieved to find that the mate of a dragon is smart, sharp, funny and has nothing to complain or cry about. I am not a fan of weak females in the story and Annwyl gave me what I needed.I am looking forward for more dragon books from G.A. Aiken.
review 2: I've been looking for good dragon books and I absolutely loved this one! I really love a strong female, and... more Annwyl is about as strong as you can get. She was known as Annwyl the Bloody because of all the heads she had severed in battle. But the thing that I loved so much about her, was that she had the mouth and attitude to back up her rightly given title. I hate it when authors describe a character a certain way, but write the character differently. I was so glad Annwyl was written as a mouthy, sarcastic warrior. I really loved herFearghus the Destroyer was a dragon who just wanted peace and quiet. He had is own reputation of destroying villages to obtain his peace and quiet. So the two of them together made such a great couple. Annwyl was all attitude and Fearghus fell in love with her almost instantly. Everytime she stood up to him, every time she ran her mouth and tried to push him around he was astounded that she didn't fear him, but then became more fascinated with her because of that fact. Another thing that I loved about this book was that the story lasted longer than I expected. I felt as though there were 3 major climaxes. Not really sure if climax is accurate, but there were 3 major happenings in the book, 3 issues to resolve. I liked that there was more to the story than just boy meets girl, for whatever reason they can't be together, they resolve it and live happily ever after. No, there was a little more to this, and I loved that after the first hurdle, I had more to read and more to look forward too.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~FAVORITE QUOTES"And you are Annwyl of Garbhán Isle.
