review 1: An excellent beginning to this series. There are two main story lines; one is the struggle for honesty & love between Daphne and Max, the other is a mystery about one of the fallen brother in arms. The one thing I love about Ms Foley's writing is that issues introduced in the beginning are never dragged out. I keep thinking Oooh this isn't going to end good & then the characters resolve the matter few chapters down. Lol I like that the book kept me on the edge of my seat.
review 2: Historical romances are mainly about how the extremely rich and slightly rakish heroes are swept off their feet by the mind -boggling charms of their One True Love. Except that there is not much story line to look forward to. However, I was pleasantly surprised that this book changed
... more my idea.Unlike, the usual lot of mindless romance novels that just portray the attraction between the main protagonists, Gaelen Foley actually had a solid plotline. The characters were not merely there because its a romance novel, they are their cuz the plot demands them to be!YAY!!The Demon Marquess is W..O..W, totally droolable I think.. LOL! And the conversation with a distraught Daphne at the Inn made me go all teary-eyed. It was by far my best scene in the book. Needless to say how much I enjoyed it. Great going Ms. Foley!! Its was an amazing read and not just another romance novel for me.... :-) less
