review 1: Keillor’s latest book, a self-effacing memoir of the highs and lows of his varied career as radio show host, local humorist, columnist, screenwriter, , storyteller is hard to put down. It is especially so for writers who are woefully less creative than the super talented Mr.Keillor but who are coping with some of the same problems he is grappling with in his book, i.e.: how to balance regrets for past mistakes with the optimism of an 18-year kid as the year 71 approaches . It’s a tough row to hoe, and we learn quickly that although the development of Garrison Keillor's career as one of America’s favorite radio personalities and novelists has been exciting, and full of laughs, it has by no means been a bed of roses.
review 2: I was really hoping that this
... morebook was going to be better than it was, after seeing the movie about him, but I was slightly disappointed. There were a couple of stories that I found so boring, that I couldn't wait for them to be over. Others I found to be very heartwarming, and they tugged at my heart. The book, in its' entirety, is a mixed bag of his life, so if you like reading that type of thing, it's a worthwhile read. less
