review 1: I enjoyed this book. There was some great imagery and it seemed authentic of it's era. I wrestled with my affinity to the characters. I'm not sure why my book appeared to have considerably more pages than specified - but the book was definitely whole and complete. Whilst I enjoyed a fluid read and believable storyline .. after having invested time and energy into the characters I was disappointed in the ending - I would have liked something more!
review 2: Disliked this book from almost the first chapter, the characters were so repellent. And yet the story had me drawn in. Glad I've finished it. Not sure i would say i enjoyed reading it but i hung in till the end. Found it rather disjointed with story arcs begun and left hanging and some characters rather
... more two dimensional. Still, it certainly painted a vivid picture of WWII London and it's shadier characters. less

First part of book was promising but, in my opinion, it fell a part by the middle.

Started out with an interesting premise, but I was depressed by the end of it.

Slightly hilarious, slightly misanthropic, slight in general, but absorbing.

Strangely compelling, though very British

Not really what I expected. Bit tedious.
