review 1: I haven't finished a book in one night in a while, but I just couldn't put this down. At times, Bullock-Prado can come off a little whiny but she writes in such an honest, easy-to-read style that she can't help being endearing. Her descriptions of food are not only mouthwatering but emotional; and I ended up falling in love with her family (especially her Omi) and most of the people in Montpelier by the end of the book.
review 2: I really respect people who recreate their lives when they have available to them the credentials and the avenue to establish the prototypical vision of American success. As an attorney, as a member of her sister's production company, Gesine could have coasted through several decades of life, but she tore up her life to follow her blis
... mores even though that meant working as hard as a brick layer. Her writing is honest and flows easily. It's a quick read, but the images of her creations continue to linger days and weeks later. Gensine generously shares recipes for those who have ambition and time. less
