Histoire de ma vie
review 1: 4 stars based purely on Benedict Cumberbatch's narration. The story was the classic Casanova, and the ending was a bit of a let down. He's chasing yet another girl, no more or less special than any of the others, and agrees to marry her. Not that he hasn't agreed to marry others and wiggled out of the engagements - but the book ended, so that one felt final without there being any great reason why. It was just over, and it felt empty.
review 2: Casanova's full memoirs are on my to-read list, but while listening to this audiobook I was surprised to realise how accurate the BBC series starring David Tennant was - then again, Casanova's life story is almost too fantastic to be believed, and the BBC series naturally had to exclude quite a lot. Expertly read by Bene
... moredict Cumberbatch, this abridged version is highly recommended, though very brief; less than an hour in total. And - at the time of writing, at least - freely available on YouTube. less
