review 1: This story was so unbelievable, it may have been a thriller!! Guy Lawson managed to tell this tale in such a way that it came across as pure fiction and kept you saying "This just can't have happened." He did a fantastic job of illustrating Sam Israel's Problem and his obsession. There are a couple of things I didn't like about the book. First, I think that the first 100 pages could have easily been condensed into 50 pages. The setup for the "real" story was a little too elaborate for my taste. Second, while I think that Mr. Lawson did a great job with the "real" story, it was quite repetitive at times (although it never became boring). Overall, a very good read! On to the next one :-)
review 2: Sam Israel was born into a wealthy family in New Orleans and wound
... more up in New York operating a hedge fund. This basically turned out to be a fraud and we follow him as his personal failures mount and he defrauds his investors, destroys his family, and his employees, as the scheme unravels (as they all do) and the employees are let go as Israel's company is bankrupt. He is in prison doing 20 years.Frank less
