review 1: Loved it. Owen is the perfect alpha male, though his resistance to sticking around was one of the more frustratingly stubborn bits of his personality; I guess it just goes to show that no matter how big and bad we are, we all have insecurities. Sabrina annoyed me a bit in the beginning; her attitude toward Owen was over the top aggressive. I was happy when Tom helped bring them together, and I really loved his character.I thought the writing was really well done, the supporting characters served to make the story more interesting, and the mystery wasn't so transparent that I got bored. Definitely a solid win for Gwen Campbell, and I'll be looking for more from her.
review 2: This is a story told completely from a male point of view. This is something new f
... moreor me in erotic romance as I can't remember ever reading a whole book from the male characters' view. Very refreshing! This is book two in a series but can also stand alone. Suzanne was a side character (a deputy sheriff/dispatcher) in the previous book. When the sheriff of a neighboring pack is killed, the pack is overcome with grief and Suzanne and others temporarily offer assistance with solving the murder. There, she meets and begins dating Tom, another deputy, and also re-connects with her mortal enemy Owen (Fina's former pack member from the last book). Well, later in the book they become "frenemies" LOL as they work to solve the mystery of who is eliminating the pack, and then it grows into something even better. The internal conflict in this book involves Owen accepting a role that is so very natural to him, and putting aside his need to isolate. Owen has all of the traits of a good alpha but fights this throughout the story. This turns out to be a M/M/F menage. I liked it A LOT that Owen and Tom didn't spend a lot of time distressing about the way they felt about each other. They liked each other and Suzanne and that was okay with them. Again, male POV and it seemed real, their thought processes were just like typical guys, not dwelling overly on feelings and sentimentality. Great book! :) less
