review 1: I grabbed this title because the title was irresistible and for the most part, for a short and undemanding read full of pratfalls and the worst case scenario it was completely fine. Would I go for another in the series? I'm not all that fond of the characters, they are very immature and unthinking, surprisingly unprepared for survival on their own. With a lead character that fled back to her flat in Paris after a disastrous family wedding, where she may or may not have slept with the groom, only to find that her bank account has been cleaned out, her roommates are singularly unable to pitch in for rent, and one of her roommates may or may not be prostituting herself. Not unlike a story written as 'what is the worst that can happen' this jumps through several worst case ... morescenarios for the characters and their situations, the repetitive nature of another disaster being ready to step in when one issue is solved was wearing and tiring. At 82 pages, this was a quick read, and a decent diversion for a quiet afternoon, I purchased a copy of this title for my own library. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
review 2: This was a quick read, and had a lot of potential. However, I was disappointed. There were a lot of directions this story could go, each one just as interesting as the next, but everything was left open-ended. Granted, this is only the first book in the series and it may just be setting up the rest of the series, but it just didn't hook me like it should have. I doubt I will be reading the next book. less
