review 1: A sweet enough story, and I liked the message. But I couldn't get over the clumsy narrative. The dialogues seem forced and unnatural, and Ellie's behaviour and memory recollection do not seem credible for a child her age. Not wanting to include spoilers, but let's just say that the facts that later transpire about some of the characters seem a bit too convenient for the plot development. Lovely concept for a book but it doesn't quite live up to its promise.
review 2: Although it took me a little while to get into this book, by about a quarter of the way through I couldn't put it down and actually read the final half in one sitting.
