review 1: Grace Miller and her husband move to the island of Macau, for his job. To keep herself sane after coming to terms that she and her husband can't conceive their own child, which also causes friction between them, Grace decides to opens a café where she serves tea, coffee, and macarons, and meets and works with some people she ends up considering family. One thing that attracted me to the book was its beautiful cover, and I must say (I do sometimes judge a book by its cover}. This one for me did not disappoint with the story line either.
review 2: Although my rating is somewhere between 2 and 3, I actually enjoyed the book a lot. It was a quick read and somewhat interesting - I just don't think it's a GREAT book. But not being "great" didn't change that I liked
... morereading it and know exactly which friend is going to receive my copy. The descriptions of French-style macaron cookies will be appreciated by any food lover. Just reading the name of the featured flavor at the start of each chapter made me want to spend my days strolling through Paris and sampling macarons. Gunpowder green tea with mandarin buttercream. Sweet & smoky caramel with salted buttery cream filling. Rose with dark chocolate and hot ginger ganache. Need I say more?? less
